I am an abstract artist, a secondary school language teacher, and instructional coach living in Melbourne since 2010. Born in Italy in 1983, there I graduated in Interpreting and Translating and later on in Australia I also obtained a degree in Teaching and a degree in TESOL.
Since a young age, I have had an interest in and admiration for verbal and non-verbal communication and a passion for foreign languages, the history of art, philosophy, and music. I believe that any form of communication to be effective requires a deeper connection among those involved in the moment.
As a self-taught abstract artist, I have unleashed my passion for painting during a proving time of my adult life a couple of years a go. Since then, making art has become a solid and versatile tool to express inner states, personal association with colors, and practice mindfulness. The painting process is an ongoing discovery of emotions and an energy release through which I create bold and bright artworks. My work is influenced by Pollock’s balanced and controlled chaos, Kandinsky’s geometric forms, and Boccioni’s idea of motion and dynamism. In my abstract paintings, I mainly use palette knives, rollers, brushes, glitters, crushed glass and gold leaves My paintings are vibrant and heavily textured, characterized by evident mark making. They are crowded with spontaneous and at times spasmodic paint strokes, lines, contrasting shapes, and paint splatters, which are always melding harmoniously to create an energic and vibrant yet controlled artwork.
I have received several international awards, including Finalist Awards, Honorable Mentions, Talent Prize, and Artist of the Month Award from Art Show International (Teravarna) Gallery (Los Angeles) and Camel Back Gallery (Arizona). I have exhibited my work with Divulgarti Group (Italy) and participated in multiple group shows with MAVA, SOL Gallery, Brunswick Street Gallery, The Fitzroy Art Collective, The Camberwell Art Show, The Albert Park College Art Show (Melbourne). I have also had solo shows at Quadrant Gallery, The Ladder Art Space and Incub8r in Melbourne. |
